What is ROOTING ? | Should you ROOT your ANDROID phone ? | ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES OF ROOTING

When we buy an android phone of a particular company, the company sets some limitations for their users. You can consider it a wall beyond which, we cannot get the access. But we get to know that after rooting an android phone, we get those access and can control, modify and optimize our phone at a whole new different level and get the extreme out of it. Rather, we become the superuser.

Well, those statements are quite true and it's the reality. There are a number of advantages that you get after you root your android phones. But yes, with these advantages, you get some disadvantages of rooting your android phones. Here I am going to tell you about the 5 main advantages and the disadvantages of rooting your device. Also, in the end, I will share my points of view about whether you should root your android phones or not. So, read till the end and I am sure you will have a clear view on this topic.

ADVANTAGES OF ROOTING ANDROID PHONES:

  • Uninstall pre-installed apps: The first and the most common advantage that we have heard everywhere is, if you root your android mobile then you can uninstall the pre-installed applications that you cannot if your phone isn't rooted. Well, this is not the only feature!

  • Block ads that pop-up: The ads that pop-up, while playing games or using a application on your phone, becomes often irritating. However, if you root your android phone, you can get rid of this problem.

  • Install custom ROMS: One of the best advantages of rooting is that you can install custom ROMS on your phone. The custom ROMS provides various features, fixes problems, improves phone's performance and updates more frequently than stock ROMS. Although, it can be installed in an unrooted device too, but in the rooted one, it provides some extra features and works great on a rooted device, changing the look and feel of your device that gives you a better experience.

  • Access the secret (root) files: As said before, after rooting, you become the superuser. You can have access to the root files that you won't find on an unrooted device. This gives you the complete control of your phone and you can do what you want on your phone.
  • Complete device Back-up: The backup options that you get on an unrooted phone includes the backup options for media, contacts, apps, etc. However, it fails to provide the complete back-up. So if you want the complete back-up of your android phone, in order to keep everything the way it is, so you need to root your phone after which you get the advantage of extreme back-up.

DISADVANTAGES OF ROOTING ANDROID PHONES:

As I said above, along with these interesting advantages, there are some disadvantages too.

  • It voids the phone's warranty: This is the most common disadvantage of rooting. If you root your device, then it voids its warranty and due to this, you will not be able to get the advantage of the warranty period for your phone. For example, you will no more be able to service your phone under warranty.
  • Puts your phone under risk: If you try to root your phone, then there is a risk of your phone being damaged under the process of rooting. Your phone may become dead and your phone will be of no use since you cannot repair it under warranty too.

  • Decrease your phone's security: If you root your phone then, you put your phone at a very high risk of getting affected by viruses and other different problems. For example, if you give an app root access, then the app can do anything, it can do the modification, collect private data and increases the chance of your phone being hacked. Also when you will download custom ROM on a rooted phone, then the virus may come.

  • No official updates: If you root your android phone, then you will no more receive any official update or upgrade for your phone and this is not good for your phone.
  • The poor performance of phone: Generally a phone is rooted with the aim to improve the phone's performance. But often it is found that many people complain that after rooting, their phone's performance decreased that created various problems.

MY OPINIONS:

Well, rooting or not rooting your android phone is up to you, but if you listen to me, then there is actually no need to root your device. Since every mobile company provides you all the necessary features which are required by a phone user. Although if you really want to root your device, you should always do it carefully since your phone may be damaged in the process of rooting.
